Hall of Fame Mourns the loss of Michael Burns Sr.

Canada's Sports Hall of Fame mourns the loss of one of Canada's most admired and accomplished sports photographers, Michael Burns Sr. Burns passed away on February 8 at the age of 84. A member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Canada's Curling Hall of Fame and the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame, Burns donated his lengthy photography collection to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
Covering over 30 different sports for the past 7 decades as well as 5 Olympic and several Pan Am and Commonwealth Games, Burns earned a record seven Sovereign Awards for outstanding photography, most recently in 2009.
The Hall's Board of Governors and staff extends its deepest sympathy to the Burns Family. His legacy and love of photography and sport will continue to be showcased by Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.
